Assessment Literacy Task Force

As shared during her Presidential Update at the NCME Annual Meeting Business Meeting, Past President Amy Hendrickson is launching a Task Force on Assessment Literacy to take a more strategic and coordinated approach to NCME’s role in this space.

The need is clear: Assessment literacy is gaining attention across education, policy, and the public—but the conversation is often fragmented, and the underlying measurement principles are not always well understood. At the same time, our own community brings a wide range of perspectives on what this work should look like.

This task force will bring multiple perspectives together to define a path forward. Its charge is to articulate the why, who, and how of NCME’s role in advancing assessment literacy, grounded in our mission to benefit society. This includes identifying where NCME can make unique contributions, where partnerships may be most effective, and what types of resources or guidance would have the greatest impact.
