NCME Announces 2026 Award Recipients

NCME is pleased to announce the following award winners for 2026. The individuals and work outlined below will be recognized during the 2026 NCME Annual Meeting in Los Angeles.

Alicia Cascallar Award for an Outstanding Paper
by an Early Career Scholar

The Alicia Cascallar Award for an Outstanding Paper by an Early Career Scholar was established to honor Alicia’s professional commitment and accomplishments.

The 2026 recipient is Dr. Youmi Suk, Teachers College Columbia University, in recognition of the paper “Causal Mediation and Functional Outcome Analysis with Process Data.”

NCME Annual Award for Exceptional Achievement
in Educational Measurement

The Annual Award for Exceptional Achievement in Educational Measurement recognizes exceptional achievement in multiple categories during the previous three years, including an outstanding technical or scientific contribution, or in recognition of exceptional service.

The 2026 recipients are Dr. Linda Cook (pictured top), ETS, Retired, and Dr. Mary Pitoniak, Pitoniak Educational Measurement, in recognition of their innovative and groundbreaking work in editing the fifth edition of “Educational Measurement.”

Bradley Hanson Award for Contributions
to Educational Measurement

The Bradley Hanson Award for Contributions to Educational Measurement honors Bradley’s contributions to the field and further advances the goals embodied in his work.

The 2026 recipient is Dr. Brian Leventhal, James Madison University, in recognition of his exceptional leadership in establishing and directing the Center for Assessment and Research Studies (CARS) Undergraduate Internship Program at James Madison University.

Brenda H. Loyd Outstanding Dissertation Award

The Brenda H. Loyd Outstanding Dissertation Award honors an outstanding dissertation in the field of educational measurement.

The 2026 recipient is Dr. Lily An, Harvard University, in recognition of their dissertation, “Measurement in K–12 Policy Analysis,” which advances educational measurement by demonstrating how methodological and measurement decisions shape high-stakes policy interpretations and outcomes.


Jason Millman Promising Measurement Scholar Award

The Jason Millman Promising Measurement Scholar Award, with the support of the Millman endowment, honors Dr. Millman’s work by recognizing a scholar at the early stages of his/her career.

The 2026 recipient is Dr. Kaiwen Man, University of Alabama, in recognition of his exceptional contributions to applied measurement, including his research on multimodal data to detect aberrant test taking behavior.


NCME Award for Career Contributions to Educational Measurement

The Career Contributions to Educational Measurement Award honors a person whose contributions over a career have had a widespread positive impact on the field.

The 2026 recipient is Dr. Rebecca Zwick, professor emerita, UC–Santa Barbara, ETS (retired), in recognition of her remarkable contributions to educational measurement through prolific research, dedicated service, and influential mentorship.
