This webinar will consist of two parts:

Part 1 will highlight recent updates to the NAEP program, including:

  • The transition to a new assessment administration model that allows the use of school devices.
  • New frameworks in reading and mathematics.
  • The implementation of automated scoring in reading.

Part 2 will focus on tools and tips for working with NAEP data, featuring:

  • New capabilities in the NAEP Data Explorer and new features in the Nation’s Report Card
  • Interactive dashboards available on the Nation’s Report Card website.
  • The NAEP API, which enables users to programmatically query NAEP data.
  • Planned updates to the EdSurvey package.
About the Presenters

Dr. Dogan has been with NCES for nine years where he oversees the psychometric quality of NCES assessments, including the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). He provides guidance in assessment design, statistical analysis, reporting, and technical documentation. Prior to joining NCES, Dr. Dogan served as the lead psychometrician and co-chair of the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) Research and Psychometrics Committee. In this role he led the design, management, and execution of research to inform the development of college and career readiness assessments.

Ebony Walton served at NCES for 14 years. Walton led the development, technical review, and dissemination of The Nation’s Report Card and oversaw NAEP communications—including the NAEP Plus blog and outreach activities. Walton previously worked atOptimal Solutions Group, LLC. as a Research Associate, supporting NAEP research and data analyses.
